As an annual forum connecting schools in Vietnam that are interested in reducing waste, especially plastic waste, towards building a Zero Waste model, Zero Waste School Festival 2022, organized by the Zero Waste Vietnam Alliance Nam collaborated with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and other stakeholders to organize, which is considered an important milestone in connecting and supporting Vietnamese organizations, schools and universities to develop an efficient and sustainable Zero Waste model.
With the participation of Hồ Chí Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment – Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and representatives from solution providers, the festival also had the response of more than 70 teachers from primary schools, middle schools and universities from Hà Giang, Hà Nội, Nam Định, Đà Nẵng, HCM, Kiên Giang…
At the event, many typical Zero Waste models in Vietnam and internationally were shared. This is the foundation for Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance to discuss for the Zero Waste School construction roadmaps in the coming time.
Advanced Training for female waste collectors
Following the first steps in a series of efforts to support women in participating in the collection of recyclable waste in Phú Yên province, GreenHub and Phú Yên Women’s Union continued to train on plastic waste knowledge and the practice of Zero waste for a group of female waste collectors in Phú Yên province.
The knowledge-raising activity aims to prepare the foundation for the implementation of long-term and sustainable solutions to help improve the work and lives of women who are quietly contributing to efforts to reduce local plastic waste.
Through the training program, the project found 8 representatives of the female informal collectors group in Phú Yên to participate in the capacity building program, study tour and experience exchange at Hồ Chí Minh City.
